KIRKSVILLE - Although some questions remain, the Kirksville R-III School Board has been formally introduced to a project that would bring a wind energy farm to Adair County.
Trade Winds Energy Project Manager Rod Northway met with representatives from the school board along with the Adair County Commission Wednesday on the R-III campus.
Some school board members voiced their skepticism about the project at an earlier meeting and wanted to hear directly from Northway.
After the meeting, Northway noted the positive nature of the session.
"I'm encouraged with the county commission, the finance committee and the Kirksville school board and their willingness to listen and work the issues with us," he said. "It's very encouraging."
The remaining questions for Northway and Trade Winds lie in the enhanced enterprise zone and a pending agreement with a utility company to contract energy from the wind farm.
