Kevin,
What is the penalty for opting out of the lifetime program once
enrolled?
Paul

Subject: [Carpenter] Grassland Reserve Program
Folks -
It appears that its sign-up time for becoming qualified to enter the
Grassland Reserve Program. It is my current understanding that this is
a 10,15,20, or permanent program with the limited-time programs paying
something on the order $16.50/acre - but allowing grazing and haying.
The permanent program would pay on the order of $800/acre one time.
Of course, rates may vary in the future, but at today's rate, the
permanent payment represents close to a 50 year's of annual payments.
Evia and I have discussed (and may do so again!) or desire to
permanently lock out development of the bulk of our property (beyond the
4-5 acres we will have deer fence around once house construction is
complete).
Currently, we are in favor of this.
I seek from you your wisdom in enrolling in such a program, and perhaps
enlightenment on what constraints we should place on which acres we
enrolled. For instance, most of you are aware of our desire to build
several lakes on the property - both for soil conservation and beauty.
Please use this distribution list for any public comments you have or
e-mail me directly for private comments.
Thanks!
Kevin
