It all depends on your goals for the property. It sounds like you are more interested in restoration funds, but also interested in permanent protection. The key restoration programs are WHIP, the USFWS Partners Program and various cost-share practices through MDC. You won't qualify for CRP or EQIP, and GRP, even if it was an option, would be hard to get into without having a native component or a major restoration that was nearly complete. If you are interested in long-term, legal protection, the best bet is a conservation easement where you give up development rights in exchange for tax breaks (but not cash), although those types of easements are in their infancy in Missouri.
